“I did my 1000th tour for Sunrise Pedal Trolley last August. I started nine years ago after a friend who drove for the company asked if I wanted to drive the last 20 minutes of a tour, and the next day, I was out in the streets! I love getting to be a part of somebody’s party every single night.
It’s a fun job helping people have a good time. I get to meet a lot of new people and show them Bay City. I’ve had everyone from a five-year-old having her birthday party because she loves seeing the trolley to a 92-year-old riding with her kids and grandkids.
What happens on the pedal trolley, stays on the pedal trolley! But one of my most memorable rides was for a man’s 70th birthday party. They were like, ‘Kim! Teach us some drinking games!’ So I taught them Thunderstruck and some other ones, and then took them to Bell Bar and had them do the Shotski.
That was three years ago, and to this day, whenever he sees the trolley, he will come up and say thank you because they had so much fun ‘learning what all the kids are doing’.
I’ve done a lot of tours, and people will come up to me and say, ‘Kim! Do you remember me?’ and bring up something funny that happened on the ride.
And I’ll say, ‘Oh, I know EXACTLY who you are!’”
