“We had gone to separate bachelor parties where they had rented a boat, and when we got back, we both were like, ‘Why doesn’t Bay City have something like that?’ We have the river and the bay, but if you don’t own a boat or know someone who does, you don’t get to experience it. But if there was a place where people could rent a boat, they could have a great day boating without any of the headaches that come with owning a boat.
So we talked the idea through, and opened Bay City Boat Rentals in the spring. It’s easy to do: just hop on our website, www.baycityboatrentals.com, and book a two, four, or eight hour time slot for a group of up to 14 people. You’ll arrive at the docks at Scotty’s Sandbar, go through a safety demonstration and sign waivers, and then board your boat!
The river and the bay are Bay City staples, and we want this to be a way for more people to enjoy what Bay City has to offer.
Scotty's Sandbar lets us run Bay City Boat Rentals from their docks, and we’re so thankful for that. The idea wouldn’t have worked without them. Scotty’s is a great place with great live music, and is a great place for people to continue having fun when they get off the boat.
We opened in the spring, and I’d say about half the people who rent a boat from us are from out of town, some from quite a distance away. That’s great—they get to experience a great part of the community while they’re here. People always get off the boat happy, and that makes us feel like we’re doing something good for the community.”
