What's the scariest thing you can imagine? It SHOULDN'T be an important job interview, so HBC!'s Director of Workforce Development, Marlana Cork, walks us through some steps that will help you do your best.
Dress to impress...but not distract
Look good...but make sure what you're wearing keeps the focus on you! Most often, this means "profession and conservative", although there could be strategic exceptions to this depending on the position. You want the employers leaving the interview talking about YOU and not the 9-inch heels or cutoff flannel shirt you wore.
Come with your own questions
Think about your interview like a two-way street: ask questions that help ensure that the position and company is a good fit for you, too! At the very least, asking good questions makes you appear like you care about the position.
Practice, practice, practice
Grab a relative, coworker, child - anyone! - and have them run you through mock interviews. Not only will this help prepare you with answers to questions, it'll make you feel less nervous and more confident when it's time for the real deal!
